Los premios anuales que concede la Industria Fonográfica Británica cumplen 30 años, y el comité organizador pretende realizar un evento memorable, con galardones a la mejores actuaciones y  álbumes de las últimas tres décadas, con artistas como los Bee Gees, las Spice Girls o Paul McCartney, y álbumes como “A rush of blood” (Coldplay) y “No jacked required” (Phil Collins) entre los nominados.

Las que encabezan las nominaciones son Lily Allen en las categorías Mejor Artista Solista Británica Femenina, Álbum Británico  (It’s not me, it’s you) y Mejor Single (The Fear), Florence Welch, la líder de Florence and The Machine por Mejor Artista Solista Británica Femenina, Mejor Álbum (Lungs) y Pixie Lott por Mejor Single (Mama Do) , Mejor Artista Solista Británica Femenina y Mejor Actuación Revelación Británica.

En las categorías internacionales, Lady Gaga siendo la favorita competirá con otros artistas de la talla de Shakira, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, The Black Eyed Peas o el propio Jay-Z, por Mejor Nuevo Artista Internacional, Mejor Álbum Internacional y Mejor Solista Femenina Internacional.

Entre los artistas que está previsto que actúen  el 16 de febrero en el Earls Court Exhibition Centre de Londres se encuentra el rapero Jay-Z, la banda juvenil británica JLS, los roqueros independientes Kasabian, Lady Gaga y como dúo, el artista Dizzee Rascal junto a Florence & The Machine.
