A Nutritional Diet For Multiple Myeloma

Multiple myeloma is a kind of cancer which affects the plasma cell. In India per year about 16000 new patient are diagnosed. Multiple myeloma results cancer cells to accumulate in the bone marrow, and they crowd out healthy blood cells. SYMPTOMS

Signs and symptoms related to multiple myeloma can differ and, at initial stage, there may be none.

When signs and symptoms do occur, they can include:

  4. Loss of appetite
  5. Mental fogginess or confusion
  6. Fatigue
  7. Frequent infections

Anaemia, or a lack of red blood cell count, is a commonly observed symptom in people with multiple myeloma. When cancer affected plasma cells in your blood multiply, it leaves no space for red blood cells. Essentially, the number of cancer cells increases rapidly and affects the healthy ones.

A lowered number of red blood cell count may result in a variety of problems, including fatigue, weakness, feeling cold. Low levels of iron presence in your blood may also cause anaemia. An increased amount in iron levels can help you feel comparatively more energetic and will also help your body to grow more healthy red blood cells.

  7. Broccoli
  8. Tropical fruits, such as mango, papaya, pineapple, and guava

Kidney disease in some people in also caused because of Multiple myeloma. It can also cause a breakdown of bone. This is important because calcium is released by bone into your blood. A protein is developed because of the cancerous plasma cell and that goes into your bloodstream.

One can protect his/her kidney by adjusting the diet in accordance with the functioning of kidney. The amount of salt, alcohol, protein, and potassium a person consumes needs to be revised. A person with a severely damaged kidney needs to restrict the quantity of water and other fluids he or she consumes.

Some chemotherapy drugs can cause constipation. Increase your fiber intake and drink plenty of water. Foods that are high in fiber include:

  3. Apples, oranges and pears

  6. Broccoli, artichokes, and carrots
