How To Clear Waste From Your Home Renovation Project

Are you currently working on a home renovation project or a home construction project? Are you installing a new patio, perhaps? Or maybe you’re working on your roof. Whatever your project might be, it’s probably pretty involved. And, if it’s a big project, you’ll probably have some waste as a result. Whether you’ll have concrete rubble, roof shingles, metal frames, or another form of debris, you need to figure out what to do with it once your project is complete.

There are several ways to deal with waste from a home renovation or home construction project but not all of them are the most ideal. You need to know about some great ways to clear waste from your home renovation project in an easy and affordable manner.

How To Clear Waste From Your Home Renovation Project

Stop Piling Rubble

The first step to clearing waste from any home is avoiding rubble piles. Why should you avoid rubble piles? Rubble piles tend to create more work for you at the end of your project. For example, suppose that you’re tearing up the driveway in your home in order to lay down fresh concrete or asphalt. By piling the rubble off to the side, you’ll have to pick up the rubble again to move it off your property. Rubble is very heavy and you don’t want to risk getting injured before the completion of a project. You need a better solution when it comes to dealing with your rubble and you should avoid piling it on the ground when possible.

Hire a Skip

Skip hire is a great alternative to piling rubble on the ground next to your site. As you tear up the ground, roof, or grass, you can throw the rubble into a skip bin. This skip bin can be used for anything from concrete to dirt, roof shingles, and wooden beams. By hiring a skip and immediately throwing your rubble into the skip as you begin your project, you can save hours or even days simply because you won’t have to pick up the rubble again and throw it into a skip or truck later. By skipping a step, you’ll save time and energy.

When you’re done with your project, you can simply ask the skip company to retrieve their skip from your property and take it to a landfill or recycling plant, depending on the type of waste that you have.

What Not to Put in the Skip

It’s very important that you know what you can and cannot place in your skip bin. Toxic chemicals are not allowed in skip bins of any kind so if you’re planning on disposing of paints, cleaning chemicals, or any other potent liquids, you should not place them in the skip bin. In fact, as a general rule, you should not dispose of any liquids at all. It’s likely that during transportation, the skip bin might leak onto the road or even react with the air to create toxic fumes. It’s best to only place solid rubble and debris in any skip bin that you hire.
