Preparing Your Home For Spring

The seasons are about to change! Bust open that cedar closet and put away all those coats and sweaters till November. When spring rolls around it brings along with it fresh life and warmer temperatures. Flowers blossom and the air smells fresher in the spring breeze. Everybody knows that spring cleaning is just part of the yearly ritual. It’s time to get the house in order on the inside and out. Here are some tips on how you can get the outside of your home ready for spring.

1.  Trims The Weeds and Cut The Grass

Over the winter the grass goes into a dormant state. While it may have some hue of green left, some will find their yard is a nice shade of brown. The first thing you need to do is get your grass looking like golf course quality. You will be amazed how much your lawn adds to your curb appeal. The weeds will start growing at the first sign of sunshine and warm temperatures. You need to get your lawn and flowerbeds ready for the flowers and decor.

2.  Pic Amazing Decor Inside and Out

Just like the inside, the outside can be dressed up with some splashy decor. Perhaps this year you want to put in a stone walkway, or maybe you would like to add a Koi pond. Whatever you choose to do, it is only going to enhance the outside area. You can create a tropical oasis right in your own backyard. Remember less is more when adding yard art.

3.  Plant Flowers/Shrubs

Planting flowers and watching the perennials come up is one of the best parts of the seasonal changes. Add to your existing flowers by giving vibrant pops of color. Try to pick some flowers that bloom at different times so you can make sure you have a lawn that is gorgeous year round. Shrubs can help you get that year round color you want. Nothing is better than a gorgeous flower garden.

4.  Paint Shutters/Doors

If the paint on your shutters and doors has seen better days; give it a new splash of color. If you have a mundane color like white; you can make your door pop with a new hue. Add coordinating flower pots near the door area. You want your home to stand out from the neighbors and new paint is a great way to go.

5.  Change The Outside of The Home

Do you need new siding or does the house need painted? Spring is the perfect time to get outside and tackle some of these big projects. If you have gone as far as painting the door and shutters, why not paint the house too? Shades of gray and green are ever popular. Why not make the whole outside of the house over while you’re at it?

No matter what you do to your home it will look amazing. The most important thing is the health of your lawn. Your grass is the key for the beauty of your home garden. It’s what children and pets walk on, and what shields your home from mud and debris. Put extra effort into your lawn by watering and feeding it. It’s an investment that will pay off with fabulous curb appeal.
