Turks and Caicos – The World’s Most Idyllic Island Retreat

If you’re currently considering your next holiday destination, stand back for a moment and ask yourself what it is you want. Are you looking for a busy city getaway or perhaps something a little more peaceful and relaxing? Whilst to some people, a holiday is the opportunity to explore somewhere new, for others, it’s the chance to sit back, relax and unwind from the pressure and stresses of everyday life. If the latter is you, however you’re still keen to visit and explore places in the world you’ve never been before, we’re confident we’ve got the perfect top tip for you – the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Turks and Caicos - The World’s Most Idyllic Island Retreat

Situated some 550 miles South East of Miami, Florida, just below the Bahamas and to the East of Cuba, the Turks and Caicos Islands consist of 40 islands and cays. What’s unique here, however, is that only eight of these are currently inhabited, offering you the opportunity to experience one of the world’s most beautiful, yet remote and hidden away destinations.

What Makes The Islands So Popular?

The Turks and Caicos Islands welcome more than 200,000 international tourists each year, far greater than the 30,000 inhabitants who call the destination home. What makes this hidden gem so popular with tourists, however, is the fact that, in comparison to many of the other Caribbean islands, it’s still relatively unchanged and hasn’t been modernised and commercialised in the way that some have.

Across the Turks and Caicos Islands, you’ll find a diverse range of islands which range from the busy tourist centre of Providenciales (also known and referred to as Provo) through to the historical beauty that is Grand Turk, wherever you visit you can be sure to experience a destination which oozes character yet feels somewhat familiar at the same time.

Where To Stay As A First Time Tourist To Turks and Caicos?

It’s generally recommended that anyone visiting the Turks and Caicos Islands for the first time tries their best to stay on Providenciales, given that this is the most populated and most modernised. It’s where you’ll find most of the amenities as well as the majority of the hotels and resorts, including our two top tips of Beach House and Blue Haven.

From ‘Provo’ you’ll find plenty of opportunities to explore the other islands which make up the Turks and Caicos Islands either by sea or by air and it’s something which we strongly recommend all tourists go. Which ‘island hopping’ trip or excursion you go on is totally up to you, however in doing so you can be sure to find many of the hidden treasures which the destination has to offer.

At the end of the day, to many, the Turks and Caicos Islands still remains a hidden secret, however if you’re looking for what we believe to be the world’s most idyllic tourist destination, we’re confident you’e just found it!
