With immeasurable growth in temperature levels, refrigerators have now become a compulsory appliance in most of the households. This kitchen appliance helps in preserving the food and also to store food for longer periods of time. In the olden days, when refrigerators were first introduced, only limited models were available to the people. With an advent of technology, today there are several models available across innumerable brands with various specifications. Apart from witnessing a massive retail presence, buyers can also seek the mode of online shopping for purchasing branded refrigerators.

Looking for Refrigerators Online:

Basically there are two types of refrigerators that are available in the market. One is the single door model and the other is the double door model. Latest technological advancements have paved way to the launch of new models of refrigerators with enhanced specifications. Though the options may be huge, choosing the right refrigerator that fits the specifications needed and the budget is a must.

Before purchasing these refrigerators online make sure that the model has all the specifications that fit the budget. Some of the refrigerators might have high end specifications that are not fit for the house. Spending a lot of money on such models is a waste of time and they do not serve the purpose it was purchased for. Here are few pointers that give you the idea about what to look out for in terms of specifications.

  • Refrigerator capacity:

Each household will have varying food requirements and thus the refrigerator’s capacity is an important specification to note. The number of people in the family influences the capacity. If there are less than 4 people in the house, smaller capacity is sufficient. If the number is more than 4, refrigerator with bigger capacity is the right choice.

  • Compressor specifications:

Compressor plays a vital role in the smooth functioning of the refrigerator. It acts as the main cooling agent in the refrigerator. There are two types of compressors namely, normal compressor and digital compressor. Normal compressors tend to start functioning at a high speed and eventually shift to a constant speed which leads to higher consumption of electricity. Inverter or Digital compressor starts functioning at a slow speed and vary their speed depend upon the need for cooling. These are energy efficient compressors in comparison to normal compressor. Normal compressors are ideal for small capacity refrigerators while digital or inverter compressors are apt for mid or large sized refrigerators.

  • Star rating

Each refrigerator is given a star rating or Energy Efficient Rating (EER). The efficiency of a refrigerator can be well understood with the help of the stars given to the refrigerators on the rating of 5. More the number of stars, higher are the efficiency of the refrigerator. In addition to this, it is important to check if the refrigerator’s EEE has the blue and green coloured logo for Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). This indicates the authenticity of the rating that has been given to the appliance. As a final measure, check the total units of electricity consumed by the model per year in terms of kWh.

Apart from these parameters, it is very essential for a buyer to make a note of his/her needs, specifications and budgets. This will finally aid in taking the right decision.
