How Do I Use The DBS Tracking Service?

As part of the service when applying for a DBS Disclosure you will be able to track the development of your application. DBS tracking can be carried out by the candidate, the employer or the registered umbrella body who administered the application. The DBS’ favoured method for any application tracking is to utilise their simple online service.

This service is not difficult to use and all that is necessary is the ‘E’ or ‘F0’ reference number of the application and applicant’s date of birth. The DBS check tracking service will allow for you to see at which stage the application is presently at. There are 5 steps to every DBS application:

Step 1 – This is an affirmation that the application has been acknowledged and validated by the DBS.

Step 2 – The DBS will then look into the applicant’s details against the Police National Computer databank. This structure is used widely around the UK and holds any type of police information such as convictions, recent arrests and wanted persons amongst other knowledge.

Step 3 – At this stage, the DBS will carry out checks against the children’s and adults barred lists to see if it is relevant to the application. This category was formerly referred to as a “List 99” check if searching against the children’s barred list.

Step 4 – This part of the DBS application is when the application will be sent on to local police authorities. They will then go ahead and check against their records to find whether there is any information they deem of importance to the application. If this is indeed the case they will acknowledge that information on the document.

Step 5 – Now that all of the vetting has been concluded, this stage signifies that the certificate is being printed.

Getting it Completed Faster

By using the online tracking service, it will allow you to speed up any kind of job application if it meets the necessary benchmark. In order to be valid enough to speed up an application, it will need to have been processed in stage 4 for a minimum of 60 calendar days. Once this has been achieved, the online tracking system will suggest to you to submit an escalation request if you see fit. An acceleration reference number will be given out to you, so don’t lose it.

This acceleration will mean that the DBS will contact the police authority that is holding the application and request that it is given urgent attention. After a period of 10 working days has passed by, if the certificate has still not been released, you should contact the DBS. All applications can be tracked by making direct contact with the DBS, or as many people usually find is the easiest way, with the use of a professional company which specialises in DBS check tracking.

With a few clicks of your computer mouse, you can find experts who can help you with your request.
