Some Important Considerations in Banner Size You Should Know About

When it comes to your banner, whether you are planning to use roll up banners, pop up banners, or other types of banners, size is an important consideration. In fact, the size of your banner will have a great impact on its effectiveness, and the size you choose should always be based on some particular factors. So how do you determine the best size of your banner? Here are some important considerations you should know about.

Standard banner sizes

Regardless of whether you’ll be using your pull up banners indoors or outdoors, the standard size is usually 800mm by 900mm, or approximately 2.5 feet by 3 feet (a medium-sized rectangle style). For square banners, the standard size is about 4 feet by 4 feet, or 1200mm by 1200mm. Of course, if you are planning to use your banner outdoors, the length can be adjusted, but the width may stay the same. Horizontal banners for outdoor use can be either 3 feet by 10 feet (914mm by 3048mm) or 6 feet by 2 feet (1800mm x 609mm), which are standard sizes. But the size can also be custom-made according to your needs – consult with the banner printing service regarding the size they can provide for you.

What if you’re using your banner indoors?

As mentioned, the standard size of both indoor and outdoor banners will not vary greatly.  But if you are planning to use your banner indoors, you may need to think about the size of the interiors. If the space indoors is small, take photographs as well as measurements of the actual location so you can present this to the banner printing service to create a bespoke banner for the space.

If you are planning to use pop up banner stands or pull up banners at an exhibition or trade show, the standard sizing will often suffice. But if you need something different or special, you can always consult with the banner printer on the perfect size for your stand.

For a banner which will be used in a mall or shopping centre, sizes can be different as well. If you may have noticed, banners used in shopping centres are often vertical, as they are easier to read compared to horizontal banners. Vertical banners are great for announcing promotions and sales or new products.

Customising your banner size

If the standard banner sizes are not what you are looking for, you can always customise the size of your banner. But to do this properly, you have to think about the size of the wall or location where the banner will be placed, the design of the banner itself, and the size of the text. You should make sure of the right balance whilst making sure your banner is highly-visible as well.
