Summer is almost here, so we are sharing some handy tips on how to dress to impress in the office whilst keeping both your style and your cool.

1. White shirt

The white shirt is a key item in your wardrobe whatever the season – it just works for everyone. For hotter days, roll back long sleeves or go for a short sleeve or even sleeveless version. Make sure you opt for a camisole or nude underwear to maintain professionalism.

2. Maxi dress

The maxi dress is a trusted staple and nearly everyone has one of these versatile numbers in their closet. With so many different styles from which to choose, where do you start?

Depending on where you work, backless or strapless maxi dresses may not be appropriate; however, there are some gorgeous strapped or sleeved ones such as AX Paris maxi dresses. You can always add a belt to cinch in the waist or wear a lace bralet under a lower-cut style.

3. Pencil skirt

If dresses are not your thing, a pencil skirt is another option to keep you looking chic in the office. According to Vogue, prints are here in a big way – wear them bright and wear them clashing if you are brave. For a more toned-down look, pair your skirt with your trusty white shirt or tucked in T-shirt.

4. Culottes

Culottes are another popular item from the catwalk and are so smart that you need to add them into your work wardrobe. Choose a style that is wide legged but not bulky in a light free-flowing fabric. Pick black for a slimmer silhouette or make a statement in a patterned pair.

5. Layers

A cropped cardi or boyfriend blazer layered over your pencil skirts or maxi dresses will keep you looking very on trend. Even your white shirt knotted at the front is the perfect accompaniment to your summer look. Stay away from chunkier fabrics to avoid that boxy feeling and to keep you cool.

6. Casual-wear

Even with the temperatures rising, you need to maintain a professional and polished outfit at work. Anything you would wear to the beach or pub garden is a no-no, so keep your short shorts, cropped tops and flip flops for the weekend. Tiny skirts and see-through clothes are also a bad idea.
